ServicesChrystal provides illustration of animals for logos, editorial illustrations, branding and other fun stuff. Bold animal images are conceived creatively to project key qualities to the audience with character, impact and wicked good design. Bold animal images are conceived creatively to project key qualities to the audience with character, impact and wicked good design. All projects begin with a design brief, and a good brainstorming session together. This is where Chrys learns about the clients and all the key nuggets of their project so she can offer interesting ideas to make a good concept spring to life. Then we get down to drawing—face it, some stuff is much easier to look at and talk about than to try to get at in words alone! Usually 2-3 roughs are presented, and from those the client generally finds one or a comibination of ones that look promising. Back to the drawing board for further development! When the work is presentable and looking clean-ish and finish is maybe within sight but not yet realized, we’ll look at it again together for comment, steering and improvement. This part is cyclical—we’ll tweak it till it's right ON and when it's done, prep it for production in its future life with the client. Working together with an illustrator is all about the relationship—assuming you choose Chrystal to work with because you like her prior work. She prioritizes getting to know her clients really well and being comfortable talking and working together—it makes working together easy and enjoyable and keeps the project moving in the right direction from the get go to have an artist who gets what youre about. Nobody enjoys going round and round the mulberry bush with the wrong ideas and dead ends, and Chrys feels that by listening and knowing the client she can hit close to the nail on the head in very few drafts, saving time and keeping the project on track and getting better. Please inquire about working together on your project via the contact form here. We can't wait to hear about it!

ProcessI sketched these bears onto a mask template, then developed from them clean vector art which Sportmask’s painter reproduced onto the mask. Add hardware and goalie and Ta-Daa: my brief moment of NHL fame!
